FAQ 004: Can I try out the ClinicOffice Hosted Edition?

Postby Support » October 13th, 2011, 5:55 am

Certainly! :) We have setup a SAMPLE DATABASE on one of our Cloud Servers which allows you to try out the ClinicOffice HOSTED Edition.

:!: Just to make you aware: as this is a "Hosted" service, it means that other people might be testing it out at the same time as you, so please DON'T put in any real or confidential data. Also, if you see an appointment suddenly appear or move, then most likely there is another user online testing it out, and it's not a bug in the software! The Sample Database is reset every night.

Q. I'm running MICROSOFT WINDOWS - how do I connect in?
[For Apple MACs and other devices, please scroll further down...]

Firstly, please click here to download this tiny ZIP file. After opening the ZIP file, you will see there is an “RDP” file which contains the necessary settings for you to connect to our server. Copy the RDP file onto your Windows desktop. (You can do this by dragging-and-dropping the file on to your desktop.)

After copying the RDP file to your desktop, simply double-click it to connect to our server.

:!: Windows Security might warn you about this file being “potentially harmful” – simply click OK as we know that the file is ok. You will most likely be shown a couple of further security warnings the first time you connect. Tick the box which says “Don’t ask me again” if you don't want to see those messages in future.

Once you have connected, you will be prompted for the SERVER username and password.
(If you’re using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may need to click “Use another account” before entering the following details.)

The SERVER username: jsmith
The SERVER password: [please contact us for the password]

The ClinicOffice HOSTED Edition should now load and you will be prompted for a CLINICOFFICE username and password, which is exactly the same as the username and password above, i.e. :-

The CLINICOFFICE username: jsmith
The CLINICOFFICE password: [please contact us for the password]

Q. I'm using an Apple MAC - how do I connect in?

To access the ClinicOffice Hosted Edition from an Apple Mac, you firstly need to have a “Remote Desktop” application installed on your MAC to connect to a Windows Server. We recommend CoRD which is completely FREE and simple to use :-
http://cord.sourceforge.net

When you run the Remote Desktop program, you will need to enter the name of the remote computer you are connecting to (also known as the "host" or "server") as well as the username and password. These details are as follows :-

Remote Computer: clinicoffice-fast1.co.uk
Your SERVER username: jsmith
Your SERVER password: [please contact us for the password]

After connecting in, you should see a Windows desktop. Double click the "ClinicOffice Hosted Demo" shortcut to launch ClinicOffice. You wil be prompted for a CLINICOFFICE username and password, which is exactly the same as the username and password above, i.e. :-

The CLINICOFFICE username: jsmith
The CLINICOFFICE password: [please contact us for the password]

Q. I'm using another device - how do I connect in?

=====================================
:!: IMPORTANT NOTE: While it is certainly possible to use the Hosted Edition from other devices, by far the best way to use ClinicOffice is on a Windows PC. Also, we are a Microsoft Windows development company and therfore we're not able to offer support for non-Microsoft hardware or products.

Whatever device you are using, you must first download a "Remote Desktop" program to allow your device to connect to a Windows Server. Here are some good Remote Desktop programs (mostly free) for popular devices :-

- Apple iPad and iPhone - iRemote Desktop Free
- Android - 2X Client (free)
- Blackberry - RDM+ (free Trial)
- Windows Mobile - Remote Desktop is already built-in (Google for a Tutorial)

If you require assistance with any of the above or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to help!
