Handwriting in Session Notes

Postby roelofwielinga » December 9th, 2012, 1:32 pm

Hi,

I think the Session Notes Module is really great! When I write with a stylus though, it is only lacking speed a bit. In my opinion this could be improved. It would be really cool when the reaction time would be similar to "windows journal", which works really great with a stylus. :P :P :P

Hi Roelof,

Thanks for your feedback. ClinicOffice doesn't offer amy native handwriting recognition so presumably you're using some 3rd party software or perhaps windows itself to enter data with your stylus?

I'm afraid that there's nothing we can do about the performance of other applications over which we have no control! If you're experiencing performance issues with the hand writing recognition, I would recommend asking the provider of the recognition software to see if they have any suggestions.

Many thanks!

Hi and thanks for your answer. I am not referring to handwriting recognition, but more the speed of the notes-taking. I am using a stylus (not a mouse) and that makes it a little 'jumpy'. Maybe I can show you in a screen-capture-movie?

Hi Roelof - I'm still not sure what you're asking us to do - sorry. ClinicOffice has nothing to do with how your stylus operates. If it is a little 'jumpy' then you really need to speak to whoever provided your stylus hardware and/or the drivers for it.

No this is not what I mean. In the visible notes section I am using a stylus (a pen to replace the mouse). I am putting lines and arrows and even some text onto the visible note. With a mouse I don't notice anything, but with the stylus I am too fast. The lines, arrows and the text are not as fluently as compared to for instance 'windows journal'.

Please can you try adjusting the settings on your stylus? Perhaps try increasing the resolution to maximum to see if that helps or try decreasing it to the minimum to see what is better? Please also try tweaking any other setings on the device to see what makes it better or worse.

The Visual Notes module simply monitors the mouse cursor movement (i.e. the pointer on the screen) as it moves over the image. If the left mouse buttin is down when the cursor moves, then the control draws on the image (using the selected pen width and colour) following the screen cursor - it's really very simple and I have no idea what we could do differently.
